The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1 Course, Web-based and accessible 24 hours a day, provides a flexible alternative to classroom training. Through case-based scenarios, interactive activities and videos, this course teaches the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support. Healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. It is recommended that first time students take a classroom based class for their first time. Part 1 is completed online PRIOR to Part 2 and 3 (skills evaluation and testing). Part 2 and 3 consists of completing a practice hands on evaluation with an AHA authorized BLS HCP Instructor. Please print the Certificate of Completion from Part 1 and bring to Part 2 and 3 skill session. Upon successful completion of Part 1 (online) and Part 2 and Part 3 with an authorized AHA Instructor, student will receive an AHA BLS HCP Course Completion Card valid for two years. Course Content Key changes in basic life support, reflecting new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Critical concepts in high-quality CPR The American Heart Association Chain of Survival 1-rescuer CPR and AED for adults, children and infants 2-rescuer CPR and AED for adults, children and infants Differences among adult, child and infant rescue techniques Bag-mask techniques for adults, children and infants Rescue breathing for adults, children and infants Relief of choking for adults, children and infants CPR with an advanced airway Successful completion of this course includes three (3) parts: • Part 2*, a hands-on skills session with an authorized AHA BLS Instructor • Part 3*, a skills test with an authorized AHA BLS Instructor *Parts 2 and 3 are completed in one “skills practice and testing” session and is included in the course fee. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive an AHA Heartcode BLS Providers with an Instructor Course Completion eCard valid for two years. *Please note this class is non-refundable, however you may reschedule within three months from your registration date.*
